Regional job opportunities – Yorke and Mid North

You might be thinking about using the upcoming changes to your job as an opportunity for a completely new lifestyle, in a new location.

If you are thinking about moving out of Adelaide, the Yorke and Mid North region of South Australia is a good area to consider, with a number of employment opportunities available including farm assistants, tradespeople, meat and poultry workers, aged and disability care workers, chefs and a range of professional level jobs.

In particular, the region has seen an increase in farm assistant job vacancies – a role that includes operating machinery, basic maintenance work, record keeping and problem solving which are all transferable skills you’re likely to have as an auto worker. Even without any experience working with livestock and crops, physically fit auto workers with a good work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

The region is also expected to have significant job growth across the disability sector, with the roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) from January 2018. This will include roles mainly in direct disability care, but also in allied health and planning.

Tradespeople are also in strong demand, especially in and around Port Pirie and the southern Flinders area, with a number of employers looking for boilermakers and fitters, and CNC operators. This part of the region is experiencing uplift thanks to the redevelopment of the Port Pirie Smelter.

Just a short drive north of Adelaide and taking in the beautiful countryside of the Clare Valley, the ruggedness of the Flinders Ranges, the wonderful beaches of the Yorke Peninsula and more, the region offers a great lifestyle for both individuals and families.
